A scribe having heard Jesus being questioned and answering well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
Jesus responds, quoting the Shema: Hear, O Israel, the Lord is Our God, the Lord is One; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all of thine heart, all of thy soul and all of thy might. This is the first command.
The second greatest command taught by Messiah is Love thy neighbor as thyself.
There is no commandment greater than these.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22; Mark 12
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Titus 1:15-Titus 2:5
